Club history

The first days (2004)

Established in July 2004 – by Viet Nguyen, Toan Doan, Quoc Nguyen, Ha Tran, Thu Nguyen and with the support from RMIT Vietnam University Marketing department – RMIT Vietnam Business Club is the first club in all campuses of RMIT Vietnam organized by students.

Viet Nguyen became the first president of the club.

The very first activity the club organized was “Fine Dining Etiquette”, a workshop in the “Business Etiquette” series. With over 200 attendants and being posted on 6 newspapers, it was the first big hit of the club.

Firm and steady growth (2005)

Later on, the president position was handed over to Quoc Nguyen.

The club grew to 7 committee members in late 2004 when Thuan Nguyen, Hai Pham and Han Ngo joined in the club.

From 2004 to September 2005, the 7 committee members, along with student volunteers, organized many activities and started to build the club’s reputation among RMIT Vietnam University and the industry.

The Most Active Club in RMIT Vietnam

RMIT Vietnam Business Club is the club that organizes the greatest number of activities in the University, with the scope ranges to four categories: Essential Skills, Academic Plus, Community Outreach and Collaboration.

The Transition (2006)

When the ‘first’ generation of the club leaders graduated from RMIT Vietnam University, a new generation took on the responsibility to lead the ongoing development of the club.

Anh Tran, Chau Doan, Toan Nguyen, Tue Nguyen, Tai Tran, Nhung Ngo, Duy Nguyen are the new faces who inherit the club spirit that were making the change to the club culture.

In October 2005, the club started to welcome all RMIT Vietnam students to register and the club grew to 90 members in 2005 and over 100 in 2006.

Activities

First time in its operation, RMIT Vietnam Business Club organized Buddies’ Call the team building day in April 2006.

Career 360 series continued to give RMIT VN students opportunities to prepare for their prospective career paths.

Throughout semester B of 2006, the successful Grand Charity series continued to build resounding reputation of the club. Over $6,000 was raised to donation to open houses.

Maturation (2007)

In semester A 2007, buddies call 2 is organized. It was mainly the same as the Buddies Cal 1, but with more fun. There were more than 80% of the Club’s members joint the event. This had talked to the whole students that Business Club’s members are not only good at working also playing.

Semester B was so great with the Team Apprentice event. This event was sponsored mainly by Coca Cola Vietnam. The event provided students with wonderful opportunities to show their creativeness and entrepreneur thinking. The most successful team made a profit of more than 10 million VND and happily that, all that money all went to charity.

It was 15 July 2007. Career Day was so famous at that time. One professional job fair was organized mainly by Business Club members and Work & career life long learning. Organizations such as Intel, HSBC, TNS, AC Nielsen, FCG Vietnam, Exact Software, SBI and ThaiTuan were on campus to meet more than 500 RMIT Vietnam students.

Restructuring (2008)

This period of time the Club focused mainly on internal integration due to the lack of communication between members of the Club. Two great activities called Game On organizing by marking department and Camping organizing by Human resource department were applied to solve the issues. The Game On was very successful with the participation of more than 6 Clubs. Camping was so nice when we the reward and the camping together. All participating members were very happy. Consequently, at the end of the semester we have enhanced members’ relationship. There were more than 80% of the members remain in the new semester.
